Introduction

Registrations are now open for the Sports Law Bootcamp, a two-day online programme jointly organised by the Centre for Sports Law and Policy (CSLP) at NUJS and Offside Legal. Scheduled for 22–23 August 2026, this Sports Law Bootcamp is designed to introduce students and young enthusiasts to the law, governance, and business of sport through practical, case-based learning. Whether you are a law student exploring a niche practice area or simply curious about how legal frameworks shape the world of sport, this Sports Law Bootcamp offers a structured, accessible entry point into the field.

Why This Sports Law Bootcamp Matters

Sport in India is no longer just about the game on the field, it is a rapidly expanding ecosystem involving governance bodies, commercial contracts, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance. Yet formal legal education rarely gives students exposure to this domain. This Sports Law Bootcamp fills that gap. Over two days, participants will engage with the fundamentals of sports law and governance, understand India’s regulatory institutions, and explore the anti-doping regime that governs athletes across the country. The programme is entirely online, spans six hours in total, and is split into two sessions of 1.5 hours each per day making it easy to attend without disrupting academic or professional commitments.

What the Bootcamp Covers

The Sports Law Bootcamp is structured around four thematic sessions spread across two days:

  • Day 1, Session 1 – Introduction to Sports Law: A foundational overview of sports law as a distinct field, its origins, and its relevance in the Indian context.
  • Day 1, Session 2 – Doping in India: An in-depth look at India’s anti-doping regime, athlete rights, and the institutional mechanisms in place to regulate doping violations.
  • Day 2, Session 1 – Regulatory Framework of Sports Law: A closer examination of India’s governing institutions, including the Sports Act, sports tribunals, and regulatory boards.
  • Day 2, Session 2 – Sports Contracts and IPR: A discussion on the commercial and intellectual property dimensions of sport, including athlete endorsements, sponsorship agreements, and IP protection in the sporting world.

By the end of the Sports Law Bootcamp, participants will have a working understanding of how Indian sports governance operates, how anti-doping regulations are enforced, and how commercial contracts and intellectual property intersect with the business of sport.
